Legal wedding requirements
- Wedding couple must arrive in destination at least two business days prior to the ceremony date.
- Copies of valid passports for the wedding couple.
- Certificate of no impediment for bride and groom (also referred to as a single status report) with apostille.
- Original copy of your Bahamas Immigration Card (issued during the flight).
- If either party is divorced, they must provide a copy of the final divorce decree.
- If either party has been widowed, they must provide a copy of the death certificate.
- If under the age of 18, must have written parental consent. Consent forms can be obtained from the Registrar General’s office.
- 2 witnesses and copies of witnesses’ valid passports.
- Wedding couple must apply for a marriage license in person the day after their arrival at the Registrar General’s office in Nassau. Couples can marry the day after the license is approved.
- The registrar’s office should be contacted for specific rules regarding planning your destination wedding in the Bahamas. They will also provide information regarding marriage licenses and marriage certificates.
