Elaborate ceremony arches for your destination wedding

Elaborate ceremony arches for your destination wedding

In 2021, experts and trend-watchers expect to see more elaborate and creative ceremony arches instead of the traditional arch or huppah. After a year of being stuck at home, more and more couples are thinking outside the box when it comes to their décor! To help you get inspired for your own big day, we asked one of our destination wedding consultants, Jessica, to put together some of her favourite ideas for elaborate ceremony arches that we think you’ll love.

Over-the-top décor is all the rage this year – and that trend has carried over to ceremony arches. With smaller guest lists leaving more room in the budget for décor and a focus on making sure your wedding looks Instagram-perfect for any guests watching online, elaborate ceremony arches have quickly become a popular choice for weddings in 2021.

Ethereal garden vibes

Rather that standing underneath a traditional structures, some couples are creating an ethereal garden around their feet. Surround your ceremony spaces with lush arrangements and miniature trees or bushes. This trend looks especially beautiful when you’re getting married on a terrace overlooking the ocean as the low height of the florals highlights the natural beauty of your destination.

Floating florals

Another popular choice for ceremony décor is floating florals that hang above the wedding couple as they say their vows. One of our favourite ways to achieve this look is by hanging lots of vibrant bouquets in vases using fishing wire, to give off the effect that hundreds of floral arrangements are floating above you. We love the look we designed for Cityline host Tracy Moore’s vow renewal at Royalton Riviera Cancun!

Picturesque pampas

Pampas grass has become increasingly popular for weddings over the years – especially for couples who are looking to achieve more of a Boho aesthetic. Line your aisle with arrangements featuring pampas grass and use towering pampas grass on either side of your ceremony space instead of a traditional arch. The grass’ natural peachy-pink colour will look gorgeous against the sparkling blue of the ocean!

Unique shapes

Instead of the traditional rectangular arch, you can customize the look by incorporating different shapes. Triangular and circular structures are both very fashionable nowadays and add a modern element to your tropical setting, which you can cover in lush florals or add in non-floral elements like crochet and macrame.

Grand vases and pillars

Add a touch of grandeur to your destination wedding by incorporating oversized vases and pots into your ceremony décor. Whether they’re oversized and grounded on either side of the wedding couple or spaced out along the aisle on podiums, they add an elegant touch to your ceremony space. Plus, potted plants and vases are better for the environment compared to traditional floral arrangements.
