Take on paradise like a pro at Riu Palace Macao in the Dominican Republic
When it comes to planning your all inclusive vacation, we want to give you the tools to make each getaway one to remember. Recently, Natalie Gleba (@natalie_adele), Digital Marketing expert, founder and CEO of Natalie Adele Media, visited the newly renovated Riu Palace Macao in balmy and beautiful Punta Cana with her hubby. This adults only resort has something for everyone and Natalie made sure to explore it all! Whether you’re thinking about visiting this particular slice of paradise or another adults only property, read on for Natalie’s inside scoop on how to get the best out of your stay.

What does a perfect day in paradise look like?
A perfect day for me starts with a cappuccino and a whole lot of relaxing which is very fitting for an all inclusive vacation in the Dominican Republic. After sipping on our patio, we’d make our way to the gym for a quick workout before grabbing breakfast on the way back to our room. We’re big gym people but also big foodies and the omelettes and breakfast platters here were just chef’s kiss. After breakfast, we’d relax at the cabanas or beach, play some games by the pool and try out water sports. Another thing we often like to do but didn’t have a chance this time around is to go on an excursion and explore our destination more – when you purchase your getaway you can coordinate with the Sunwing Vacations team and they can help you book excursions beforehand to better plan out your getaway!
Any amenities you would recommend not skipping?
Definitely! The resort is part of a RIU Punta Cana Complex and guests staying at Riu Palaca Macao enjoy access to the amenities at three other sister resorts, from the bars and restaurants to the pools and, our personal favourite, the Splash Water World water park! Located just steps from the hotel lobby, time will fly as you zoom down the water slides – the big blue cyclone was a personal favourite. I would also recommend making some time to check out the Renova Spa at Riu Palace Bavaro. Along with being absolutely stunning, it’s very well equipped with wading pools, cold plunges, hot tubs and more! I tried the acupressure walk where I stepped over warm stones while water was sprayed on my legs and feet – it felt amazing!
How did you decide on which room category to stay in?
Picking the right room for you really depends on what kind of vacation you’re going on. If you’re looking for something more relaxed, choose a room that is in an area of the resort that is quieter, perhaps away from the pools and bars. If you want to get into the thick of the action, go with the opposite – there’s no wrong way to do an all inclusive vacation! I would also recommend taking a look at the amenities each room category offers and pick the one you feel would make you the most comfortable. We stayed in the Swim Up Junior Suite Deluxe Ocean View Elite Club. With its own semi-private pool and patio, it really helped us chill out during the day when we needed a breather from all the fun!
Any final tips you can share?
When it comes to an all inclusive vacation, if you’re able to, always go for the upgrade! It may cost a little more but it’s more than worth it! Riu Palace Macao offers an Elite Club which comes with a whole slew of exclusive amenities and services that really made us feel like stars! From premium room locations to late check-out, premium drink brands, an exclusive restaurant and beach area with a bar (they were calling me Negroni Natalie by the end of our stay!) and even a private Elite Club Lounge, there’s no better way to vacay. If you’re going to treat yourself to a tropical getaway, say yes to more with added perks from your resort!
